Lifesource Blood Pressure

The Lifesource line of automatic and manual inflate blood pressure monitors allow people with hypertension, diabetes or other irregular heartbeats to accurately monitor their blood pressure and pulse rate in the comforts of their own homes.  These blood pressure monitors help doctors in the management and treatment of hypertension and related diseases such as kidney disease, high cholesterol, and obesity.

Checking and monitoring your blood pressure at home is an important part of managing hypertension.  Taking regular measurements of your blood pressure will help you track your treatments, and help you have better control.  Home monitoring can also help cut down on the number of visits that may be necessary to your doctor.  The measurements for your blood pressure are in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and it measure the force of the blood against the artery walls as your heart beats (systolic pressure), over the blood pressure between your heartbeats (diastolic pressure).  A normal blood pressure is considered to be 120/80, 120 (systolic) over 80 (diastolic).  High blood pressure is 140/90, or higher.

Lifesource has manufactured an easy to use, reasonably priced, accurate blood pressure monitor for home use.  The Lifesource blood pressure monitor requires 4 AA batteries, and has an Easy Cuff that you strap around your arm.  The monitor will store the most recent 30 measurements of your blood pressure with it’s on board memory so that you can make day to day comparisons, and also have the readings portable to share with your doctor.

Monitoring your blood pressure is very important. The causes of high or low blood pressure are still unknown.  Blood pressure that is too high, or too low can lead to heart disease, organ damage, strokes, or in extreme cases, death. There are many factors that affect your blood pressure.  Your age, weight, heredity, certain foods and medications, any emotional stress you may have, and your physical activity, or lack of, all play a critical role in maintaining a healthy blood pressure.

Your blood pressure will fluctuate throughout the day, so it is important to monitor your blood pressure each and every day, at the same time or times every day, with the same monitoring device, and always record your results in a note book, or blood pressure monitor book.  Remember, stress and your environment will affect your blood pressure, so selecting a quite space and time each day to take your test is important.  Each time you take your blood pressure, you need to record your blood pressure: systolic pressure over your diastolic pressure (e.g. 120/80), your pulse, and the date and time.  A constant and consistent schedule will be the best for you and your healthcare professional to find the right treatments for you.
